Bill DeSteph has consistently brought a common-sense approach to the Virginia General Assembly, focusing on job growth and economic development, public safety, and smaller, smarter government. Bill continually seeks opportunities to raise public awareness, improve the general welfare, and secure the Commonwealth’s, and our great nation’s, position for the future.
It is my great honor to distribute flags throughout the 8th District each year, in advance of the July 4th weekend. I can think of no better way to celebrate the Independence of our country, and to honor the service and sacrifice of the many who have defended our freedom, than by displaying the symbol of our great nation.
This year, like every other since I took office, our American flags were purchased from and manufactured right here in the USA. We do our best to balance size, material and cost to ensure as many homes as possible can receive a flag. As a Navy veteran and long-term public servant, I am filled with pride when I see flags displayed throughout our community, and am grateful to the many of you who express your admiration and appreciation of these flags.
Each flag has a card attached that includes my name, for accountability purposes, as well as information that will help educate and provide guidance on the proper disposal procedures. While the flags are on display, I hope you will assist me in caring for and providing respect to the flag. If you see one that has faded, broken, or fallen down, please secure the flag and follow the proper protocol for its retirement.
By sharing my contact information, I invite you to call or email with any questions regarding flag disposal.
